Welcome to Aleah's recommendations! Aleah is a senior at UW-Milwaukee, double-majoring in Creative Writing and Sociology. She’s read more books than she can count, traveled all over the country, and written two novels. When not studying storytelling or society, she can be found playing video games, listening to an eclectic selection of music and podcasts, exploring the outdoors, and chatting excitedly about fairy tales, folklore, and mythology.

This graphic novel brings together some of the best things about fall (the colors, the food, the general coziness) in a beautifully-drawn package. The two main characters have excellent chemistry - their banter throughout is adorable and clever. If you enjoy madcap adventures with a dash of romance, buy this book!
I Am the Messenger is an offbeat and beautifully written novel set in Australia with a witty and resourceful narrator, interesting cast of characters, and highly engaging plot that is by turns funny, mysterious, and emotional. This is the first of Zusak's novels I've read, and it encouraged me to read several more!
Spanning stories that take place in Raleigh, North Carolina, New York City, Normandy, France, and Paris, David Sedaris muses on family, work, cultural customs, and the sheer weirdness that can be uncovered by observing the every day. Sedaris has a way of picking out the more odd and interesting elements of life and relaying them with fantastic humor, wit, (and in some cases) self deprecation. The titular story of this collection focuses on his trials and tribulations in a French class.
