About the Author

Inside Charlotte Sullivan Wild was the idea of stories, long before she could write. So she told tales to her kindergarten teacher at the typewriter. Soon she read and wrote herself. So many stories (so many cross-outs). After years of teaching stories, and asking authors about their stories on the radio, and even selling stories in a bookstore--AT LAST, one of her ideas grew into this very book in your hands. Originally from Minnesota--land of sweet, crisp apples--she now scribbles her ideas in Texas amid clouds of dancing butterflies. Learn more at www.charlotteswild.com.

Inside Mary Lundquist was always the idea of being an artist. So when she was little she drew and drew, and when she was old enough, she went to art school and drew some more. Soon she was drawing (and sometimes writing) picture books, just like this one! Originally from Massachusetts, Mary now lives in Vermont with her husband and two sons, who love to go apple picking in the orchards during the fall (and, of course, get hot cider and donuts, too!). Praise For…

“In Lindquist's clear, airy art, the child grows older, planting new apple trees as a young adult. At last, she picnics with her own children in the orchard she has grown: 'All around are apples . . . And every last one/ has an idea inside./ Just like you.'” —Publishers Weekly, starred review

“Opaque, spring-bright colors in the watercolor, pencil, and gouache illustrations . . . complement the text's suggested importance of a human connection with nature. . . . [A] bedtime read-aloud about big ideas and the promise in everyone.” —Kirkus Reviews

“Bursts with freshness in illustration and text . . . . A gentle yet deliberate reminder of the greatness deep inside every living being.” —School Library Journal

“The language is lyrical and often stunning. . . A book to pore over and think about.” —Booklist Online
